Today, I am going to review “Kotonoha no Niwa”. It is called “The Garden of Words” in English. It is a novel, but there is now a movie version too. I have seen this movie many times. It was released on May 31, 2013. This movie was created by Makoto Shinkai. He is the director and the original author. He is the very famous so I am guessing that you know him. His films are filmed mainly in Tokyo, so I think there is a landscape you've seen.
The main character is a high school student. He has a dream. He lives in a complex home environment. There is a summer love story in the Shinjuku Gyoen. The green is beautiful. Rain, trees and flowers make us feel the nature in the park. This movie has a scene in which tanka is read. It is a tanka from the Manyoshu. The Manyoshu contains a lot of love tanka. It is a work that reminds me of my high school days. Anyway, the cinematography is so beautiful, so please check it out.
